Linda Nagy Johnston holds a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from the Mannes College of Music in New York City and a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance, Summa Cum Laude, from Potsdam College of the State University of New York, where she was a Presser Scholar Award recipient.
Linda has been Principal Second Violinist of the Akron Symphony Orchestra for over 25 years, as well as a violinist with the Canton Symphony Orchestra, where she was a member of the Canton Symphony String Quartet. She also performs regularly with the Blue Water Chamber Orchestra in Cleveland and with Akron Baroque.
Ms. Johnston has performed as a soloist with the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Canton Symphony Orchestra, the Amherst Symphony Orchestra in Buffalo, New York; the National Repertory Orchestra in Keystone, Colorado; the Crane Symphony Orchestra of Potsdam College; and as a recitalist in the People's Republic of China. Her summer activities have included the New Hampshire Music Festival; the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan; the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria; the Sir Georg Solti Project at Carnegie Hall; the Spoleto Festival (USA and Italy); and the Aspen Music School.
Linda has taught violin at the Kent State University Stark Campus, and taught violin, music history and chamber music at the New York State Music Camp & Institute. She has been active with both the Akron and Canton Youth Symphonies as a sectional coach, and has also shared her love of music as a Junior Achievement volunteer.
Linda brings her wealth of perfomance experience to her violin studio, where she instills students of all ages with a solid technical foundation through structured discipline and practice habits, with the goal of achieving individual musical expression and personal confidence in performance.
