Mike Bauer: Brass 

Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the University of Akron

A native to Northeast Ohio, Mike Bauer received his education at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the University of Akron.

In the realm of classical music, he has had the privilege to study with and participate in master classes with legendary trombone players such as Massimo la Rosa, Toby Oft, and Jorgen van Rijen. His performance opportunities have brought him as far as touring Eastern Europe, playing in legendary concert venues such as Dvorak Hall and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He is currently the principal trombone of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic in New Philidelphia, Ohio.

After returning to Akron after studying in Cincinnati, he began studies with jazz and commercial music under professor Jack Schantz at the University of Akron. It is with jazz and commercial music that an interest was sparked with arranging, composing, and improvisation. Mr. Bauer is currently a free-lance composer arranger, and trombonist with jazz and other progressive music projects.

Coming from the father of a music educator, he is also an active teacher, ranging from coaching marching bands to professional motivational speaking such as his Ted talk. He currently teaches at the Hudson/Fairlawn schools of music in Northeast Ohio.
