Sadie Fellows: Piano

Bachelor of Music Piano Performance Kent State University

With over seventeen years of formal training and nine years of teaching experience, Sadie Fellows loves nothing more than to create music with her students and peers. Recognizing the unique needs of each pupil, she adapts well to different style preferences and strives to provide a fun, friendly, caring, and relaxed environment conducive to learning. Sadie encourages her students to make the appreciation of music a lifelong pursuit and believes a solid foundation in technique, thorough understanding of music theory, and regular practical application in sight-reading to be invaluable in doing so.

A graduate with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, Sadie is pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Performance at Kent State University under the instruction of Dr. Jerry Wong. Expecting to complete this degree in 2016, she aspires to continue her studies by becoming certified in Music Therapy from the Association of Ohio Music Therapists (AOMT). In 2009, she was accepted into Kent State University’s Summer Piano Institute in which she worked with Joela Jones, principal keyboardist for the Cleveland Orchestra, and also performed in Severance’s Reinberger Hall.

Sadie has won prizes in prestigious state and national competitions. These accomplishments include: two Honorable Mentions in the OhioMTA Middle East District Buckeye Competition, two Honorable Mentions in the OhioMTA Central East District/Graves Competition, third prize in the MTNA National Performance Competition, and second place in the Kent State University Undergraduate Concerto Competition. She was also the recipient of the Creative Artist Award from Kent State University and won first prize in Canton’s MacDowell Music Club scholarship competition.

An active member of Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA), Sadie teaches both private lessons and group classes at Hudson School of Music, Fairlawn School of Music, and Sempre Piano School and also manages her private traveling studio. She has played musicals for The Canton Players Guild, Hoover High School, and North Canton Middle Schools and often performs in the Student Recital Series at Kent State. A strong sight-reader with over twelve years of accompanying experience and extensive work as a choral pianist, Sadie is well-versed in classical, theatre, pop, improvisatory, and sacred genres and remains a highly sought-after accompanist in the area. She frequently works with voice studios at Kent State and was the accompanist for the Kent State University Men’s Chorus from 2012-2013.

Sadie attends graduate school full-time, serves as the Director of Music for Faith United Methodist Church of Brimfield, and considers herself blessed to work with such wonderful students every single week. Come join the fun!
