Sheena Mays: Voice

Sheena Mays is a vocal instructor and coach from Illinois. She has taught for almost 15 years, with over 10 of those years at the collegiate level. She has taught at FSoM since January of 2012. With classical training in her background, Sheena understands the importance of a solid technical foundation, but she believes that versatility is important for vocalists. She encourages her students to sing and master multiple genres of music to increase their artistry and, in turn, marketability. She teaches many vocal styles including: musical theater, pop, rock, country, gospel, jazz, and even classical. 

Sheena has performed with various ensembles and in multiple recitals and musical theater productions through the years. She currently performs periodically around the Akron/Cleveland area. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Musical Theater/ Opera and a Master's degree in Music Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. 

She is Level 3 Certified in Somatic Voicework- The LoVetri Method and is a former member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).
