Ellie Kelly: Voice
Bachelor of Music, Voice Performance - Baldwin-Wallace University Conservatory of Music
Ellie has loved music and performing since she was a child, and began formally studying voice at the age of 12. Throughout junior high and high school, she participated in every school ensemble possible and also performed with the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus. Ellie continued her voice studies at Baldwin Wallace University under Boyd Mackus and James Mismas. She worked with the BW Jazz Band as a soloist for three years, performing at concerts at the University as well as at the Brothers Lounge in Cleveland. Serving as the music chair in her college sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, sparked her interest in teaching music and she hopes to pass her love and passion for performing onto her students.
Ellie has been formally teaching voice lessons since 2014. She specializes in classical and music, and focuses on healthy tone production and technique. Ellie incorporates ear training, theory, sight reading, stage presence, and audition technique into her lessons. She hopes to inspire self-confidence and musicianship in her students. Ellie considers each student's needs and dreams to create a personalized lesson plan and help students realize their full potential.
Ellie is an avid performer in local theater. Credits include: Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins, Anna Leonowens in The King & I, Kate McGowan in Titanic, Gloria in Thoroughly Modern Millie, April in Company, Mrs. Corry in Mary Poppins, and Isabel in Pirates of Penzance. She has performed in the chorus for Spamalot, Carousel, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and City of Angels.
Her favorite role to date is Mary Poppins, where the Hudson Hub Times described her as “practically perfect as Mary Poppins, with her enigmatic smile and sweet voice.” During Opera Workshop class at Baldwin Wallace, Ellie performed in scenes and excerpts from the following: Orpheus and the Underworld, Die Fledermaus, Mahagonny Songspiel, Pirates of Penzance, El Capitan, A Little Night Music, and Candide.
