Ephraim Miller is a trumpeter, composer/arranger, and educator based in Akron. Originally from Orrville, OH, he has been performing and writing music for over 10 years. He currently performs with the Sam Blakeslee Large Group along with several rock and jazz fusion bands in the northeast Ohio area.
Ephraim attended the University of Akron and Kent State University during his undergraduate degree where he studied with Jack Schantz, Todd Gaffke, Bobby Selvaggio, and Michael Chunn. During his masters he worked with Chris Coles to create the Birth of the Cool ensemble, which performed his compositions and arrangements. Ephraim has also served as the brass arranger and educator with the Rogues Hollow Regiment Drum and Bugle corps for 9 years.
Ephraim's brass teaching philosophy is based in creating a strong pedagogical foundation for each student. He focuses on technique, sight reading, ear training, and improvisation, all while finding the joy that comes with playing the horn.
