Master’s of Music, Kent State University (In Progress)

Salvatrice (Sally) Maltempi, mezzo-soprano, is a current graduate student at Kent State University's Glauser School of Music, studying voice with Dr. Lara Troyer. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and a minor in Music. During her tenure at Kent State, she has been a member of the Kent State Opera Theatre, as well as Cantique (treble chorus), Chorale, and the Kent State Gospel Choir. Her personal favorite principle roles include Miss Todd (The Old Maid and the Thief), Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro), Time (Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria), and Usher (Trial by Jury). She has also sung in churches for over a decade.

Her teaching style focuses on a holistic approach to music - involving the whole self to create. She focuses on using various sensory methods to teach, all while providing individualized lessons based on each students' individual needs. At the end of the day, her main goal is this - to make music accessible, expressive, and most of all, FUN!

Outside of the studio in her free time, she loves to watch baseball with her dad (Go Mets!), go shopping with her mom, playing video games, and catching up on the world of science.
